Presentation and discussion of key elements of endodontics. The course will discuss: the pathology of dental pulp and periapical diseases, how to diagnosis and treatment plan for endodontic procedures. Isolation methods, endodontic access and length determination with proper x-ray methods will be discussed. Materials and Armamentarium will be considered for preparing, obturation, temporization and completion of the endodontic procedures.

DENT 6220 Operative Dentistry

Presentation and discussion of key elements of Art and Science of operative dentistry related to dental material and tooth preparation. The course will discuss the clinical significance of Dental Anatomy, Histology, Physiology and occlusion. The materials to be examined will include amalgam restoration, composite restoration and cast metal and porcelain type restorations.

DENT 6230 Dental Occlusion

Presentation and discussion of key elements of dental occlusion related to muscles of mastication, the TMJ and jaw relations including centric and protrusive positions. With various interocclusal records, stone models will be mounted on an articulator using a face bow to duplicate Jaw relation and the occlusal position of the subject patient. Then equilibrate the models into a centric relation.

DENT 6240 Dentures

Presentation and discussion of key elements of the principles partial and complete dentures fabrication. Areas of concentration will be proper evaluation of the patients’ needs and wants, comprehensive diagnosis, making impressions, recording the inter maxillary/mandibular space, neutral zone, initial tooth, the dress rehearsal, and delivery plus follow up equilibration. Developing expertise in finding centric and protrusive positions and mounting models on an articulator using a face bow.
