Individualized Studies (B.A. or B.S.)
Admission to the Individualized Studies program within University College requires a 2.0 cumulative college grade point average from all post- secondary institutions attended and 20 earned semester hours (30 quarter hours); direct from high school students are not eligible for admission to Individualized Studies.

The Program must contain at least 30 semester-hours of course work that is distinct from any existing major at UToledo. No more than six classes from any one department may be incorporated without that department’s permission. Students must create a Plan of Study and submit for approval by end of second semester in program. Hours needed in the Individualized Studies program depend on the individual student record and situation. The information lists the requirements towards the minimum number of 120 approved semester hours, or more depending on the approved program of study, needed for the degree.
Combined bachelor's to master's BA/BS in Individualized Studies to Master of Interdisciplinary Studies:
Undergraduate students accepted to the BA/BS in Individualized Studies to Master of Interdisciplinary Studies option will be admitted to the Interdisciplinary Studies, MA program and allowed to complete up to three graduate level classes (nine credit hours total) during their final academic year of undergraduate studies. Students admitted into the pipeline program must apply for admission to the College of Graduate Studies for the semester that they intend to matriculate. They will then continue into the graduate program upon completion of the undergraduate degree requirements. The graduate coursework (up to nine hours) may be applied to completion of both undergraduate and graduate degree requirements. It will be the joint responsibility of the faculty and administrators in the undergraduate and graduate programs to supervise students admitted to the combined program option, to ensure that the limit of nine hours taken as an undergraduate is strictly enforced, and to request that the College of Graduate Studies change their matriculation from Undergraduate to Graduate when they meet all undergraduate degree requirements.
The following provisions apply for classes taken for graduate credit: 1) graduate classes may be taken at The University of Toledo only after the student is accepted in the program, 2) MLS 6000, MLS 6100 and one of the courses from the list below may be included in the approved nine semester hours of graduate credit taken as an undergraduate. Students interested in the combined program must submit a graduate admission application to the College of Graduate Studies.

Qualifications for BS degree:
- Twenty-five percent (25%) of course work applying toward degree must be completed in one of the following areas:
- Natural Sciences,
- Mathematics,
- Computer Sciences and/or
- Health Education.
- A minimum of twelve to fifteen (12-15) semester-hours of course work at the 3000-4000 level in the above areas must also be completed.
Combined bachelor's to master's BA/BS in Individualized Studies to Master of Interdisciplinary Studies:
