THIS COURSE IS REQUIRED BY ALL UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN THE COLLEGE. Course will introduce new students to the University and college, provide information on requirements, regulations, campus resources and career exploration, and help students achieve their academic goals.

NSM 3000 Transformative Ideas in Science

[4 credit hours]

A broad-ranging exploration of how major scientific discoveries and advances over the past several centuries have transformed and shaped modern science, and through that, the modern world. Lectures on transformative topics from all disciplines in NSM, an introduction to critical thinking skills and their application to the pursuit of scientific ‘truth’, and training and practice in writing about science.
