FINA 3890 Financial Modeling and AI Applications

This course is a technical introduction to Excel and AI applications for applications in the field of finance. This course begins with a focus on building common financial models, performing scenario and sensitivity analysis, and effective communication of models and analysis in Excel. Models include project models, real estate models, personal financial models, and models for valuing public and private firms and contingent claims. Financial models rely on the analyst to collect and analyze data from various external and internal sources relevant to the context of the model being constructed. To that end, this course also introduces applications of Large Language Models for financial analysts. These applications introduce effective prompting and plan files, integration of LLMs with Excel, working with LLMs in a development environment, and using LLMs to build Python applications for collecting and analyzing and presenting data from public and private financial data warehouses.
